Old Sherman Hill Road
by Kathleen Gunton (Orange, CA)

Even a soul guided
By Love
Travels paths full
Of autumnal cries.
Owl or osprey? read
As wisdom or death.
Questions hang on
The capricious colors
Of ancient trees
Like those you found
On Old Sherman Hill Rd.

Perhaps it was there
In a season’s moment
Of faith that a tapestry
Radiant with redemption
Offered itself.
